Dr. Richard J. McAlister


Dr. Richard J. McAlister is a Chiropractic Physician and has been in private practice since 1980. He attended Wagner College, fulfilling his prerequisites, prior to attending New York Chiropractic College where he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree in December of 1979. He began his career in Staten Island, NY in 1980. In mid-2014 he transitioned to East Brunswick, NJ and founded Integrative NeuroTherapy LLC, a facility dedicated to providing evidenced-based alternative and complementary approaches for Brain-Body Wellness.

In addition to a D.C. degree, Dr. McAlister is Board Certified in Neurofeedback (B.C.N.) through the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA). He is also a Board Certified Diplomate in Pain Management (D.A.A.P.M.) through the American Academy of Pain Management, and is Board Eligible in Functional Neurology having studied at the prestigious Carrick Institute For Graduate Studies. Dr. McAlister has completed the HeartMath Institute certification program in Heart Rate Variability Training, is a Certified Interactive Metronome Provider, and holds advanced training and certifications in numerous chiropractic techniques, diagnostic modalities, and clinical procedures. This includes a course of study in Electromyography & Clinical Neurophysiology through Harvard Medical School, Department of Continuing Education. Additionally, Dr. McAlister has studied clinical nutrition and Functional Medicine extensively throughout his career and continues ongoing.

Dr. McAlister has been awarded citations from the NYS Senate, NYS Assembly, and NYC Council for his role in establishing the first Division of Chiropractic Services in a NY hospital making him among the first Chiropractors in NYS (and the country) to be granted hospital privileges. He has been featured on Fox News and CNN.

Dr. McAlister is a member of the following professional organizations: Association of New Jersey Chiropractors, International Association of Functional Neurology & Rehabilitation, International Society for Neurofeedback & Research, American Academy of Pain Management, and past member of the American Academy of Clinical Neurophysiology.

The clinical focus of his practice is Brain-Body Wellness. Conditions of special clinical interest include childhood, adolescent, & adult ADD/ADHD, persistent post-concussion syndrome, insomnia, chronic migraine and tension headaches, chronic pain disorders, stress associated disorders, peak performance enhancement, and selected movement disorders.

Dr. McAlister is actively licensed to practice Chiropractic in New Jersey and New York.
