FAQ

  • Q - What are your office hours?

A - Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. We also offer hours on most Saturdays. All hours are by appointment only. If there is a special circumstance that requires appointments outside regular hours we can often accommodate this. We understand life can be hectic so we remain flexible in scheduling.

  • Q - Are any of the therapies offered painful and are they safe?

A - All modalities used are exceptionally safe and painless.

  • Q - Do you accept health insurance toward payment?

A -  We do not accept insurance at this time as neurofeedback and other modalities used in our programs are generally non-covered services. We do however accept all major credit cards & checks. Additionally we offer patient financing through Care Credit including an interest-free option. This makes our care very affordable for most patients. Whenever a service is provided which may be covered under insurance we will be happy to provide you with a receipt to submit to your insurance carrier. You may also be eligible for reimbursement if you have a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA).

  • Q - What is your fee for an initial consultation?

A - Initial consultations are always free and there is absolutely no obligation to start care afterward. This gives you the opportunity to visit our office and go over your specific concerns with the doctor so you can determine if this is the right path for you to take. You will have an opportunity to have all your questions and concerns addressed.

  • Q - After the initial consultation what is the next step?

    - Once you complete the initial consultation and decide to move forward you will make an appointment to have a QEEG/brain map done. In addition, a thorough physical exam with an emphasis on neurological function will be provided. A computerized neurocognitive test such as IVA or CNS-Vital Signs will also be required and will be scheduled on a separate appointment. Depending on our schedule this may be done during the same appointment as the QEEG and physical exam.

  • Q - When will I learn about the results of my tests?

A - After your initial workup you will make an appointment for a Report of Findings. During this visit the doctor will go over your results, what they mean, then tell you if you are a good candidate for care. He will then go over your recommended care plan and get you started if you decide to proceed. Program costs and payment options will be reviewed during this visit. You can then decide which option is best for you and when you would like to start care.

  • Q - How long are the training sessions and how often do I need to come in?

    - The training sessions are usually 30 – 45 minutes each. A frequency of 3 sessions/week is generally recommended for the first 4 weeks then usually reduced to twice per week. For those who have “time and distance” issues we are planning to offer an in-home training option. In this case Dr. McAlister will design a protocol based on your test results. After doing some initial training in the office you will rent or purchase the necessary equipment to use at home. Dr. McAlister can monitor your sessions and make necessary program changes over the internet. You will only need to come to the office periodically for follow-up evaluations. We expect to offer this option by mid-year in 2016.

  • Q - How many sessions are generally needed?

A - Many patients start to experience positive results within the first 5 – 10 sessions. The total number of sessions needed to attain maximum benefit will vary depending on the condition being treated and patient compliance. After the doctor has correlated all your findings he will make his recommendations in that regard.

  • Q - Other than neurofeedback what other treatments do you provide?

A - While neurofeedback and Functional Neurology are at the core of our treatment approach, there are a number of other modalities that may be incorporated into a patient’s program such as: Interactive Metronome, Audio-Visual Entrainment (AVE), Cranial Electro Stimulation (CES), Micro-Tesla, Neurotransmitter Analysis & Nutraceutical Support, Functional Nutrition, Therapeutic Lifestyle Counselling, Heart Rate Variability Training (HeartMath), and Guided Imagery.
